Senos Timon Facebook Header-004

THIS IS MY COMMITMENT TO YOU

I will:

Bridge the gap – I will endeavor to ensure that every citizen has their needs met. I will work to improve access to housing, food, healthcare and education. Ignoring poverty is not a solution because the effects of poverty go well beyond those who are living with it; the whole country suffers as well.

Build community – I will be accessible to my constituents.  I will help to build programs that enable groups and local communities to come together and build an equitable society to help everyone prosper.  As your representative in government I will be an advocate for individuals, entrepreneurship and for the community.

Bridging diversity – I will work to bring diverse cultural and economic communities together to build understanding and solidarity.  Among Indigenous community, new Canadians and everyone in our community, we have so much in common and our diversity can become our strength.  As a refugee, I bring a unique perspective to this commitment.

Working Together

An effective representative is a visionary grassroots leader, community builder, an organizer, one who listens and seeks understanding, and one who relates to the struggles, values and dreams of hardworking people. I believe I bring to you, and to all citizens of Saskatoon Centre, these qualities which will strengthen our quest to win government in 2020.

As we prepare for the provincial election in 2020, there is much work to be done so that we can present a solid team of candidates and a build a platform that will ensure a return to NDP government in Saskatchewan.

I intend to be a part of that winning team of candidates.  I bring to the nomination process a powerful set of skills and experiences.  My background as an organizer and builder in our community and beyond has prepared me to be a strong candidate and an effective member of the legislature.

I have deep roots in the community that provide the foundation for a vision of our Province in which we work together to break barriers, build bridges and create a prosperous future for all.

I understand what it means to struggle and how, with ambition and support, one can overcome many challenges.

A little bit About me

My name is Senos Robert Timon. I, along with my wife, Betty, and our three children, Emil, Memo, and Joy, have made Saskatoon Meadowgreen neighborhood our home for the past 19 years. We love the community we are so fortunate to call home and have endeavored to show our gratitude by giving back to the community.

Born and raised in the Republic of South Sudan, in East Africa, I grew up in a loving extended family with strong community values. As a young boy, I started school in a peaceful village in South Sudan. I was ambitious with big dreams to contribute to my community and the country. But in 1983, those dreams abruptly came to an end when the Sudan entered into brutal civil war. Fleeing that conflict, I began a long, tortuous journey through Sudan and Egypt.

Thankfully, my family was among the few Sudanese refugees who were given sanctuary in Canada. On March 30, 2000, this city and province became our home. Since settling in Saskatoon, I have been heavily involved in the community. My family and I work, volunteer, attend church, and contribute to the economy. Those childhood dreams of contributing to my nation flourished. It has always been my conviction to give back and serve this great province and country.

It will be a great honour to have your support to represent you in the Saskatchewan Legislature as your MLA for Saskatoon Centre.

Vote For Senos R. Timon

Why Vote For Senos ?

Our friend, Saskatoon Centre MLA, David Forbes will retire in 2020. This constituency will need a visionary grassroots leader and community builder to continue David’s work, understanding and relating to the struggles, values, and dreams of hardworking people.

My service in the community has brought me into close contact with many in our community who are among the most vulnerable. Hearing their touching stories, sharing their dreams and wanting to help them build better futures for themselves and their families has taught me that we all have ups and downs in our lives, and this has led me to this service as a community leader, organizer and humanitarian.

I find personal gratification working with the most vulnerable in our society. I devote my talents to being a problem solver in our community. I am committed to assisting newcomers settle, to engaging in authentic reconciliation with Indigenous people, to building bridges between communities. If you choose me as your candidate for Saskatoon Centre, it will be an honour to campaign with other candidates and our leader, Ryan Meili to win government in 2020.

Then together we can address our most pressing issues: cuts to healthcare and education; growing inequality; threats to the environment; safety in our communities and build bridges between communities.

Building bridges is at the heart of all that I do.  As a candidate for public office, this is what I offer:

A vote for Senos is a vote for a strong, experienced and visionary grassroots leader who believes that the voices of the PEOPLE matter much more than political rhetoric and that bringing communities together is so important. It is a vote for integrity, accountability, a genuine reconciliation, and for a progressive Saskatchewan with a vision for the PEOPLE.

StrongLeadership

A vote for Senos is a vote for justice for the most vulnerable in our community and for hardworking Saskatchewan families and individuals. It is a vote for acceptance of all people, regardless of gender, religion, race, culture, sexual orientation, income or disability.

volunteerincommunity

A vote for Senos is a vote to Break Barriers, Build Bridges and Create a Prosperous Future for PEOPLE.  It is a vote for a stronger and more diverse government in 2020 that represents the Saskatchewan of TODAY and TOMORROW.

    The Endorsements

I am thrilled to have received an endorsement from former MP Ron and Dorothea Fisher for my NDP nomination candidacy to become the next MLA for Saskatoon Centre. Ron and Dorothea Fisher also shared some very inspirational and kind words: We have known Senos through his involvement with the party and Riversdale constituency executive. “Senos’s understanding of the party and grassroots issues; but also community leadership experience and involvement with his dedication will make him an Excellent MLA to serve Saskatoon Centre and the province”.

    Ron & Dorothea Fisher

My wife Hannelore and I wish my friend, Senos Timon, all success and luck with his nomination for the NDP seat in the riding of Saskatoon Centre. I had the privilege to work with Senos both in his home country of South Sudan and also here in Canada and the NDP would be enriched with his presence in your ranks

    Dr. John and Hannelore Fryters

I’m honored to receive an endorsement from Elder Maria Linklater for my NDP candidacy to become the next MLA for Saskatoon Centre. Elder Maria Linklater is a long time resident of Saskatoon Centre and is known as a knowledge keeper. Here is Elder Linklater’s kind word of endorsement:

I’m endorsing Senos because I have the pleasure to have known him as a man with a caring heart for seniors, people with special needs and the most vulnerable of our community. His commitment of building bridges and working with Indigenous people will make him a great MLA and advocate of social justice for all people.

“As a grass roots advocate to indigenous families, please support/vote Senos to become the next MLA Saskatoon Centre”

    Maria Linklater

I am honored to have received an endorsement from my friend Vernon Linklater for my NDP nomination candidacy to become the next MLA for Saskatoon Centre. Here are Mr. Linklater’s kind words: “It is with great pride that I support the nomination of Senos Robert Timon. As a community person living in Saskatoon West, I have witnessed him helping out the common people. He has sat with us and listened to what we have to say! Please support this kind person; he will make our community better”.

Hi my name is Joseph Naytowhow. I’m from Sturgeon Lake First Nation and we’re the ‘nehiyowak’ people and one of the sovereign nations of Treaty Six. Senos, my brother from Saskatoon and the homeland of the South Sudan, is a good man. I’d like to endorse him to become the NDP candidate and the next MLA for Saskatoon Centre riding in the next year’s provincial election.
I’ve seen Senos’s heart and mind through the gatherings he’s attended here in Saskatoon. As well, in a respectful and with proper protocol Senos asked me to do a feast and ceremony of thanks, good relations and community engagement at the Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship centre this past summer. This feast is about getting to know your neighbour and feeding the people through a tradition that has happened on this land for thousands of years and is a great way to build a foundation for people from diverse cultures.
Senos’s vision is to be a voice in Legislative Assembly for diversity, good relations and acknowledging the original peoples of this land also called Canada.
Coming from a long line of family leaders from his homeland in Sudan I truly believe he will represent the people of Saskatoon Centre, Saskatchewan and Canada with a good heart and open mind. Senos has lived within a variety of cultural and language communities and understands people from both the lower and upper class. He’s not afraid to meet, listen and learn from people. This is one of the foundations of what it takes to be a great leader. Senos is a hard worker and a family man, another foundation for serving all people who need a representative who knows the fundamentals of old fashioned community and family values.
Senos is rooted to his own culture as well as adopting Canadian culture in making a life for his family. Knowing who you are and where you come from is critical to being an effective human being and a strong and kind leader.
Please vote for Senos come November 23rd, 2019. When you vote for Senos it is a vote for positive change, strong vision and trust building.

    Joseph Naytowhow
